"ABDUCTIONS, BEATINGS & TORTURE MUST STOP" - ED Adviser
Zimbabwean businessman and adviser to President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Dr Shingi Munyeza, has called for an immediate stop to the abduction and torture of opposition MDC members and human rights defenders.
His remarks come after local comedian Samantha Kureya, best known as Gonyeti, was reportedly abducted last night and exposed to an unthinkable treatment.
Shingi Munyeza @ShingiMunyeza posted on twitter and said:
ABDUCTIONS, BEATINGS & TORTURE MUST STOP
1.I’m totally disgusted & alarmed by an unprecedented trend of abductions in our country
2. It’s worrying that the State has not come up with a position on stopping this
3.The State must protect its citizens & culprits brought to book
Responding to his remarks, others suggested that Munyeza and the entire Presidential Advisory Committee resigns from being Mnangagwa’s advisers as a way of registering displeasure in the abductions.
Munyeza, however, said that the move could worsen things. He made reference to the Biblical Moses who constantly and continuously engaged Pharaoh over the need to release the Israeli people.
