1. His Brother’s Death

His brother Paul, the former Tennis Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe Olympic Committee president died a year ago on 13 July.

2. His Cricket Career

Peter became the first African in Rhodesian cricketer to play at a high level. He appeared in List A games for the “South Africa African XI”. and was the captain in two matches in the Gillette Cup in 1975-76 and 1976-77.

3. Leading Zimbabwe Cricket

In 1990 Peter became the Vice-President of the Zimbabwe Cricket Union and became the president of Zimb1993, he became president. Becoming President made him a full voting member of the executive board of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

4. His Alma Mater

He went to St Johns College.

5. As A Business Executive

He was the Board Chairman for Netone and was the Zimbabwe Cricket Chairman till his resignation on 23 July 2014

6. His Travel Bans

Following the controversial 2008 presidential election, Peter was added to the European Union’s list of Zimbabweans subject to personal sanctions, a ban on travel to the EU and the freezing of any assets there, in July 2008,

In, December 2008, he was banned from travelling to Australia.

In February 2008 Britain refused to guarantee that Chingoka would be allowed entry to attend a London meeting of the ICC until a publication of a report by accountants KPMG on alleged corruption in Zimbabwean cricket.
