"Some People Will Celebrate Birds For Flying," Ali Naka

Pan African political commentator, Ali Naka, has chided former ZANU PF politburo member, Jonathan Moyo for criticising State media for “over the top and personalised” celebration of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s assignment to chair the SADC Organ.

Writing on Twitter, the social media personality said.

Unfortunately, this is the legacy you created and left behind for elements like Energy Mutodi to continue abusing. Both the First and Second Republic Are BANANA Republics.

Ali Naka, however, had no kind words for State media. He said the extravagant celebration of a rotational chair shows that Zimbabwe has become the Banana Republic. He wrote:

When a whole state media has a full-colour supplement to congratulate the President on assuming the rotating chair of a regional organ, a chair that rotates among members not based on some sound RECOGNITION or Merit you know that you are in the Banana Republic? New Dispensation 🍌

Chairpersonship for Regional Organs is on a Rotational basis. After Zambia, it followed that Zimbabwe was going to be the Next Chair! It’s not a Recognition or Endorsement Mnangagwa by any measure. SOES wasting funds on adverts celebrating mediocrity! Come here

When you have nothing to celebrate, birds will be celebrated for flying, fish will be celebrated for swimming 👇🏿
