Mupfumira Denied Bail By High Court Judge

Former Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister, Prisca Mupfumira was on Friday denied bail at the High Court.

Mupfumira is facing seven counts of criminal abuse of office and has been in custody for the past 3 weeks.

She is alleged to have prejudiced the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) of more than USD$100 million while she was serving as a cabinet minister.

Mupfumira reportedly diverted the money to the acquisition of personal properties in South Africa and the Middle East.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa fired her from cabinet several days after her arrest by the Zimbabwe Anti-corruption Commission (ZACC).
