Woes seem to mount for Zanu PF Central Committee member and Senator Priscah Mupfumira who last week was fired from her Tourism ministerial post. Mupfumira is in jail facing an array of corruption charges. The Herald has revealed that Mupfumira is set to be recalled by the ruling party.
The Zanu PF Mashonaland West Provincial Coordinating Committee revealed to the Herald that they had resolved to recall Mai Mupfumira. Speaking to the Herald after a PCC meeting yesterday the ZANU PF Mashonaland west chair Ziyambi Ziyambi said:
The PCC resolved that Priscah Mupfumira be recalled from the position of Central Committee member and Senator in Mash West to an ordinary card-carrying member. This is in support of President Mnangagwa’s efforts to fight corruption in the country.
We need to build the country and pulling out corrupt seeds among us is important for us to bring economic recovery
Another committee member Misheck Nyarubere echoed Ziyambi Ziyambi’s statements:
As Makonde, we have agreed that we relieve Priscah Mupfumira of her duties as a Central Committee and Senator. This is because we cannot have a leader who is facing charges of corruption of this magnitude. I, therefore, propose that we recall her and leave her as an ordinary card-carrying member.
It is still not clear when Mupfumira will be reduced to a mere card-carrying member we will update this article as more information come in.
