"Diplomatic Passports Not A Priority, Consider Toiling Masses First", MDC

The government of Zimbabwe recently announced that it will grant diplomatic passports to all Members of Parliament. Diplomatic passports come with certain privileges.

However, the opposition MDC is against the idea. Party secretary-general, Chalton Hwende said the government should prioritise providing passports for the toiling masses who need them urgently. He said:

We must provide passports first to ordinary Zimbabweans. Only after that can we consider Diplomatic Passports for our MPs.

As a Social Democratic Party, we must refuse to be equalized by The corrupt ZANU PF regime. We must stand and defend the toiling masses.

Diplomatic Passports to MPs at this point when ordinary Zimbabweans who need to travel out of the country for medical treatment, escaping the current economic hardships and to further their education are failing to access ordinary passports is not a priority.

The MDC’s decision was supported by prominent journalist and political commentator, Hopewell Chin’ono, who wrote on Twitter:

This is leadership @hwendec. Don’t be drawn into the corrupt ZANU-PF patronage system of favours and corrupt networks meant to oil the looting of the State!

This was meant to trap you into accepting and then being reminded that it was a privilege from ED, hence you have recognized him.
