High Court Orders Labor Registrar To Reinstate NEC Registration Certificate

The High Court has ordered Grace Kanyayi, to reinstate the registration certificate of employment council, National Employment Council for Engineering and Iron and Steel Industry (NEC), which she had withdrawn.

It is alleged that Kanyanyi withdrew the certificate to conceal her corruption.

The withdrawal of the certificate is reported to have infringed workers of their right to collective bargaining and other rights including decent remuneration and better working conditions.

Ruling over the matter, Justice Musakwa said:

Pending the determination of the court application for a declaratory order filed under case number HC6244/19, the operation of the cancellation of the applicants registration certificate dated July 25 be and is hereby suspended, coupled with the restoration of the applicants registration certificate and status quo ante.
