The lack of reforms and unjust election dividend is showing in the skewed by-elections results. Lack of Independence of ZEC and zero response to Opposition complaints. What has been documented in observer mission reports remains.
In summary, the abuse of traditional leaders through district administrative structures has not stopped. They intimidate and are a conduit of electoral bribes extending to food distribution. Threats and bribes are dished to them interchangeably.
Electoral reforms remain a pipe dream Our parliamentarians are doing the best to push for them. Whats gets brought is the marriage act? Supplementary budgets etc no such haste for issues to do with the media, votes security, and abuse of state resources on votes.
Food as a weapon for votes. Food distribution happens during the vote. Medicines and other government programs happen. This is an abuse of state resources. All reports about it are ignored. There is an unresponsive & unsuited court election petition system.
State institutions are an actor in the elections favouring ZANU. The CIO, Police all Parastatals headed by losing candidates for ZANU & sympathizers. They donate and provide resources for ZANU campaigns they need to be freed from this behaviour through electoral reform.
Intimidation is ever-present. New vehicles for ZANU and crisscross the area. a limitless supply of fuel. Reminders are awash of the abuse that would follow an opposition Victory. It is a wild process. Rules honoured more in a breach than the observance.
On behalf of the party would like to thank voters who voted against all odds. National and provincial leaders showed biblical resilience in the face of Pharaoh. Dedication is unparalleled, lessons are invaluable. The majority is being reduced. Let’s free our people street by village by village.
