Tongaat Hullet has hiked the price of sugar by almost 100 per cent. The prices are with effect from today, 29 July 2019.
Sugar has been in short supply over the past several days with consumers suspecting that a price hike is imminent.
The sugar producer has confirmed consumers’ fears, with the recommended retail price for 1kg now set at $8.61 and 2kg at $17.22.
