Govt Acquires 100 Ambulances - Health Minister

The Minister of Health, Obadiah Moyo said that the government has acquired 100 new ambulances to service provincial, district and rural health centres.

Moyo said this last week during Parliament’s question and answer session. He was responding to MDC Binga North MP Prince Dubeko Sibanda who wanted to be appraised of the government’s policy towards upgrading rural health centres. Said Moyo:

The issue of ambulances is very critical in all this because we want to be able to move patients from one level to the next where they will be able to get assistance.

I just indicated that we are getting 100 ambulances and we want to see an equitable distribution of these ambulances so that we can be able to take care of the problem.

At the same time, at the lower level, at the rural healthcare centre level, we want to see an integrated rural healthcare centre, which means that it will have all the facilities to be able to assist.
