AUDIO: Jonathan Moyo Should Come Back & Finish His Law Studies Then Speak Authoritatively - Prof Madhuku

Law expert, Professor Lovemore Madhuku, has said it was unfair to quote Professor Jonathan Moyo on matters to do with the law since he was not an expert in that field. Moyo had commented on Madhuku’s remarks on the detention of and denial of bail for Tourism Minister, Priscah Mupfumira who is accused of corruption. Madhuku had said that Tourism Minister, Priscah Mupfumira, is not eligible for bail application until 21 days have elapsed. He said that Section 32 of the Criminal and Procedure Act which is presumed to be constitutional until it is set aside or proved by either the Constitutional Court or High court to be unconstitutional. In response, Moyo said that Madhuku was offside. He said:

It’s sad to hear Professor Madhuku who taught me constitutional law describing an ultra vires action by the Prosecutor General, denying Mupfumira bail, as “creative”. That’s mischievous if not delinquent. The part of s32 of the CP&E Act used by Hodzi is patently unconstitutional!

Moyo’s response attracted Madhuku’s wrath. Madhuku said that debating with Jonathan was a waste of time since he was so ignorant of the law. Listen to the interview between Prof Lovemore Madhuku interview with ZimEye’s Simba Chikanza.
