Media Was Blocked From Entering MDC Meeting In Bulawayo – ZENZELE

Bulawayo-based journalist and filmmaker, Zenzele Ndebele has said that the media was blocked from entering into an MDC meeting that was held in Bulawayo.

The meeting was supposed MDC leader, Nelson Chamisa, on the disputes that rocked Bulawayo City Council recently.

Reports, however, suggest that Chamisa did not attend the meeting as he sent party chairperson, Mrs Thabitha Khumalo.

Posting on Twitter, Zenzele Ndebele said:

After waiting 3 hours for Chamisa to arrive and engage stakeholders in Bulawayo at a local hotel, the media was blocked from entering the meeting, which was dominated by party structures.

Social media users who responded to the post, however, observed that members of the media were not supposed to be in the meeting.

Others said that the media would, as per tradition, be invited for a press conference. One Peter said:

So the media wanted to be part of the meeting? I thought the media wud be invited for a press conference, y’all people shud stop this mourning for no reason. What were you going to do there?

These remarks were echoed by Juma Ulete who said:

Party meetings are never done in the presents of media unless if it was a rally! House keeping issues are never for the media.

Others, however, argued that Chamisa was now revealing his undemocratic characteristics. Nfanomkhulu lamented:

Thus not good organization by MDC , How on earth can a party claiming to be democratic block journalists.

Another one, @mikeMlamboM echoed sentiments above saying:

A lot of pple don’t know chamisa, those who hv worked around him know who he is. Hearts will be broken in zim politics
