The Permanent Secretary for Information, Publicity & Broadcasting Services Mr Nick Mangwan has used his Twitter handle to assure Zimbabweans that the economic turbulence will pass and Zimbabwe will be on a recovery path.
Using an analogical bible metaphor Nick said:
Soon after leaving Egypt, the Children of Israel faced transitory challenges such as food shortages, water problems, security threats etc. It didn’t take long before they all started murmuring and grumbling saying Egypt was better. But of course the Promised Land was ahead
However, some people who responded to his tweet had no kind words for him as they responded this way:
This message is an insult to most suffering Zimbabweans. If we are following the same moses story- it took them 40 years- 40 is used as a symbol fr long time. In politics we deal with term limits & citizens prioritization

But you took Zimbabwe out of the promised land back into bondage.

Was Moses stealing the people’s food, hiring a chariot from Ethiopia to take him from his tent to the lavatory and back.
Did Moses say “this leadership of mine is the best; Even Heaven doesn’t have such leadership”
Did Moses order spears to be thrown at 45degrees, killing some…— The_Thinker🤔 (@The_Thinker_II) July 26, 2019

No Nick I disagree with U coz I think muEgypt takabuda kare kare during Smith’s era. The children of Israel were in the wilderness for 40 years so Zim has been in the wilderness for 39 years so 1 more year to go to Canaan. Hameno kuti unopinda here Canaan ini ndenge ndirimo.

However, the children of Israel left Egypt and got to Cannan after 40 years. It is still not clear what Mr Mangwana referred to as Egypt, the Smith era or the coup that ousted Cde Robert Mugabe in 2017.
