Zim Govt Should Not Celebrate Boris Johnson's Victory - Jonathan Moyo

Former Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Jonathan Moyo has poured cold water on the Zimbabwe government’s optimism of having improved relations with the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northen Ireland following Boris Johnson’s victory to become the Prime Minister.

Writing on microblogging site, Twitter, Moyo said:

JOHNSON’S RISE, OPPORTUNITY FOR RE-ENGAGEMENT
No. Boris priorities are domestic: Deliver Brexit, Unite Britain, Defeat Corbyn and Energize the British. Zim priorities: Restore legitimacy, arrest perpetrators of August 2018 and January 2019 atrocities, revive economy!

President Emmerson Mnangagwa was quick to congratulate the former mayor of London after he defeated foreign minister Jeremy Hunt to succeed Theresa May as Britain’s Prime Minister. He used social media to extend his congratulations:

Congratulations @BorisJohnson on your election as leader of the Conservative Party and on becoming Prime Minister of the UK.
