MDC Is The Security Threat To Zimbabwe - Govt

The government has said that the opposition MDC’s diplomatic offensive will not be entertained at the SADC since the party’s claims are farfetched.

This was said by the government spokesperson, Ndabaningi Mangwana, after the MDC had sent its secretary for international affairs Gladys Hlatywayo to Lusaka, Zambia, to persuade the regional body to discuss the Zimbabwe crises. The MDC informed SADC that Zimbabwe’s crises have a potential security threat to the whole region hence the need to address it forthwith.

However, Mangwana said that it was actually the MDC posing a serious threat to the peace prevailing in the country. He said:

The SADC Organ on Politics Defence and Security is responsible for promoting peace and security in the SADC region. It is mandated to steer and provide member states with the direction regarding matters that threaten peace, security and stability in the region. His Excellency, President Mnangagwa is its incoming chair (designated).  Zimbabwe is one of the most stable countries in the region with its only threat coming from the opposition which first threatens to overthrow a legitimate administration (recognised to be so by the whole world) then run to Sadc crying that there is a security situation in Zimbabwe. Whilst those self-serving dramatics may find currency within juvenile corridors, Sadc is composed of mature statesmen and stateswomen who are not swayed by overemotional histrionics.

The MDC is saying that it will fight towards the restoration of its 2018 victory. It is rejecting elections outcome claiming that they were manipulated in favour of the ruling ZANU PF.
