ZERA Awards Solar Power Generation License To Former Eskom Boss

The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has awarded a licence to Matshela Energy, owned by ex-Eskom CEO Matshela Koko, for a 100MW solar farm in Gwanda.

ZERA Acting Chief Executive Officer Eddington Mazambani said:

The General License is hereby granted to Matshela Energy (Private) Limited… in terms of Section 42 of the Electricity Act to construct, own, operate and maintain the 100 MW Solar Power Plant called Matshela Energy-Gwanda Timber Farm Solar Power Plant at Gwanda Timber Farm, Gwanda in Matabeleland South Province for the purposes of generation and supply of electricity.
