Lobels Close Bulawayo Factory For The Second Time Within A Month - Report

The dire situation ravaging the country has left bakeries struggling too. The Bulawayo Plant of Lobels Bakeries has been affected as they were alleged to have closed their plant on Friday for the second time since they had resumed production in June 2019 Bulawayo24 reports.

Speaking to one publication the workers said:

Our Bulawayo plant closed on Friday. We have exhausted all our flour stocks. Management only said they will recall us after the situation has improved. They said we will not be paid while we are at home

The workers were also said to be put on indefinite unpaid leave. The industry, in general, has been battling wheat shortages with bread being scarce and bakeries being told to stop making biscuits and prioritise bread.
