Police in Chitungwiza on Tuesday arrested three men for impersonating police officers. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said in a statement:
Three men have been arrested for impersonating police officers in Chitungwiza. On 5/7/19 the 3 accused persons arrested and confiscated 35 litres of petrol from the complainant on the pretext that he was selling fuel on the black market.
Complainant demanded to see their police identity cards but they refused to produce them. On 9/7/19 the accused persons returned to the same service station where they were positively identified by the complainant leading to their arrest.
The police searched the accused persons’ car and recovered a reflective police jacket, pair of handcuffs and other items of police uniform.
