JUST IN: Job Sikhala Jailed, Ostallos Siziba To Appear In Court This Afternoon
MDC Alliance vice chairman, Job Sikhala, was this morning remanded in custody to July 24 when he appeared before a Bikita Magistrates Court.
Sikhala is being accused of subverting a constitutionally elected government after he remarked that his party was going to overthrow the Government before 2023.
Sikhala, who is also the Zengeza West National Assembly representative through his lawyer Mr Alec Muchadehama, had made an application to be released from custody arguing that police detained him beyond the stipulated legal limit.
However, Magistrate Ms Marewanazvo Gofa threw out the application for lacking merit. This was after the state led by Messers Takunda Chikwati, Elson Chavarika and Chiedza Muhwandavaka had opposed the application saying it was false that Sikhala had been over-detained.
Sikhala has since revealed that he will now approach the High Court for bail.

Meanwhile, MDC Youth Assembly secretary-general, Gift Ostallos Siziba, who was detained for inciting public violence over the weekend is set to appear at Rotten Row Magistrates’ Court at 1400 hours this afternoon.
