Chamisa Applauds Solar Power Project At Hopley Clinic

Leader of the opposition MDC, advocate Nelson Chamisa has applauded the solar project at Hopley by the Harare City Council (HCC) saying that it was in resonance with his party’s vision.

Speaking to 263Chat after touring Tariro clinic earlier today, Chamisa said that the central government has to take a leaf from what the HCC has done. Chamisa said:

This is evidence of a smart city programme underway. The solar power developments shows that we are heading towards a good direction.

This is what we want as a country, things that will make our country go forward.

The development is good news considering that the country has a huge electricity deficit which has resulted in the local power utility, ZESA, implementing a 17-hour power cut across the country.

The project was also praised by patients who said that it will go a long way in cushioning the medical institution that was also being affected by the shortage of electricity in the country.

The clinic that was built by the HCC in partnership with the UNFPA, International Labor Organisation and the local community, will be officially opened tomorrow by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

It is premised at serving at least 200 000 residents from Hopley and surrounding areas. The clinic also houses a youth centre which will help young people with vocational skills.
