Mozambique Ready To Discuss Increasing Energy Supply To Zim - ED

President Emmerson Mnangagwa said that Mozambique is ready to discuss the issue of supplying more electricity to Zimbabwe.

He also said that Energy and Power Development Minister, Fortune Chasi, will travel to Mozambique to discuss the issue with the country’s officials.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 12th Extraordinary Summit on the Continental Free Trade Area held over the weekend in Niamey, Niger, President Mnangagwa said:

My minister will go to Mozambique. I discussed with the President of Mozambique, Nyusi (my brother) and they are ready for us to discuss the issue so that they can also increase the supply of energy from Cahora Bassa to Zimbabwe on terms which are comfortable to us.

Reports indicate that Zimbabwe is currently getting 50MW from Mozambique as it owes the country’s power utility millions of US dollars.
