Information Minister, Monica Mutsvangwa, on Wednesday, urged Zimbabweans to show love, hospitality and tolerance to investors. She was commenting on Chief Chivero’s assault saga in which the traditional leader claimed that a Chinese national assaulted him.
The Chinese national, Qiao Shunglong has since been deported over the matter.
Speaking during her visit together with two fellow cabinet ministers to Sunny Yi Feng Tiles in Norton, Mutsvangwa said:
Zimbabweans are known for their hospitality and warmth and not for bigoted xenophobic diatribe on other nationals based in this country.
Recent statements reported in the media emanating from different stakeholders do not represent the Zimbabweans’ ethos of acceptance, tolerance of other cultures and races.
Zimbabwe is happy to have China as an ally, China is a powerful global power which even other powerful nations are keen to befriend.
Mutsvangwa also called upon Zimbabweans to be tolerant to investors. She added:
Government urges all Zimbabweans to show their tolerance, hospitality, their love, their friendliness towards the investors that employ our people, support our economy and the call of President Emmerson Mnangagwa to say Zimbabwe is open for business.
Her remarks also come after the Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe recently denounced victimisation of Chinese nationals saying that the Embassy will ensure the safety of every Chinese citizen. China further reminded Zimbabwe that Sino-Zimbabwean relations stretch back to the colonial period. The Asian giant also brought to remembrance some of the projects it is undertaking to assist Zimbabwe.

I agree with David, and equally disturbed that Honourable Mliswa doing is best to restore the true Norton residents legacy, Chivero included but getting no support from a fellow Zimbabwean. The constituency MP is ridiculed for the good job done. Shame on you the Information Minister. Chinese are not here to find joy in abusing Nortonians simply because they chose Zimbabwe as their investment home. We deserve respect much more than the Chinese now popular for abusing Zimbabwean woman. I thought our woman folk would rise up to the abuse occasion. Remember in China, flirting with their woman by blacks would result in death.
Every investor must obey the laws of the land or get out! Chinese are known for assaulting and dehumanizing Blacks and it’s no secret so dont expect them to change. They use your resources, steal them and attack ot undetpay local workers; that’s unacceptable!
