PICTURES: Chinese Factory Discharging Raw Sewage Into Harare’s Water – Mliswa

Tile-manufacturing firm, Sunny Yi Feng Tiles located in Norton is reportedly discharging raw effluent straight into the main water body that feeds Harare and Norton.

The claim was made Norton National Assembly representative, Temba Mliswa.

He added that the practice is not disgraceful but it increases the threat of water-borne diseases like cholera and typhoid hence there is a need for urgent action.

  2. The Chinese company doesn’t care about the environment, about the health of people, as long as they make money. I heard a story that in Senegal, there was a wetland where thousands of villagers depended on fishing and fish. Then a Chinese lead factory was built there. One day the whole wetland’s water turned red and all the fish died. The lead factory just pumped harmful pollution into the wetland. All the thousands of villagers have now been deprived of their livelihoods and food source. These companies do much more harm than good.
