Duo Fires Shots At Bus Terminus

Two Mutare men, Taurai Mupangabuwe and Legomeka Tambe have appeared in court for allegedly using their guns to scare the public at a bus terminus in Mutare. This is in contravention of Section 27(a) of the Firearms Act Chapter 10:09.

Mutare Magistrate, Ms Purity Gumbo remanded them to 15 July on $200 bail each.

The State alleges that Mupangabuwe carried a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, while Tambe is accused of having and knowingly without lawful cause discharged a firearm.

Prosecutor Chris Munyuku added that on 30 June, the pair arrived at a local bus terminus, where they inquired fares to Mutasa.

He also said that the duo disliked the responses and drew their pistols. Mupangabuwe being under the influence of alcohol allegedly ordered everyone to move away while Tambe fired two shots into the air.
