Warning To Organisers & Participants To Demonstrations

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister, Cain Mathema, has warned against organising, inciting or inviting members of the public to engage in violence. His remarks come when #Tajamuka/Sesijikile has announced that 1 July is a day for a stay away from work over the deteriorating economic conditions.

Mathema has in a statement said that the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) will deploy adequate officers to maintain law and order throughout the country. He also urged all progressive citizens of Zimbabwe to ignore the calls for the stay away or demonstrations and continue with their various economic and social activities.

The minister noted also that the Constitution of Zimbabwe allows for members of the public to petition anyone on their grievances but this should be done in a peaceful manner to avoid infringing other people’s rights.

  1. How is staying away not peaceful, Cain? Are you a person of very low intelligence or you just assume we are? Staying away IS NOT being violent. The constitution allows for it. The constitution also allows citizen to organise such things. It’s NOT ILLEGAL to organise a stay away
