Zanu PF politburo member and Deputy Secretary for the Youth League Lewis Matutu has claimed that the ruling party has solutions to the current crises.
Matutu made headlines recently over a list of ‘corrupt’ government and party bigwigs which he announced yesterday evening. The people on the list were being accused of choking president Emmerson Mnangagwa’s efforts to fight ills such as power deficit, fuel shortages, shortage of medicines and inflation.
Speaking to News Day reporter, Blessed Mhlanga (ND), Matutu said that the government is working towards returning the economy to normalcy. Below are excerpts from the interview:
ND: Do you think that the Zanu PF leadership, particularly led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has solutions to the current economic crisis?
LM: Definitely, the party has solutions and I will tell you why I say so. The President has been saying that we must push our production because if we are not productive, we cannot expect anything from our economy. We are referring to the issue of making sure that we have got small industries that are functional.
Entrepreneurs and small businesses have always been key to each and every economy.Looking at other economies, for example Rwanda’s, which we are admiring today, it is backed up by small businesses and entrepreneurs. So, because the President is talking about production, I am very confident that he has the capacity, together with other leaders who are not corrupt.
