"No Money, No Game" Warriors Threaten To Boycott Tomorrow's Game Against Uganda

The Daily News reports that there is trouble in paradise between the warriors and their superiors as the Warriors have reportedly threatened to boycott their date with the East Africans tomorrow. According to the Daily News, the Warriors are yet to be paid part of their dues since ZIFA had promised to deposit between $7000 and $8000 on Friday when they threatened to boycott the game against Egypt. However, one player reportedly told the publication that they had only seen $3000 of the promised amount meaning the football body owed them almost one and a half times the amount they promised them initially.

The Warriors have met with Minister Kazembe who assured them that they will receive their $3000 appearance fees against Uganda. However, the Warriors have said they will not play tomorrow’s game if the balance from ZIFA is not in their accounts.

The Warriors and ZIFA had a contract that they would be paid $21000 each as appearance fees and allowances and a $5000 winning bonus and $3000 for a draw. Zifa, however, claimed they had not yet received the money from the Warriors Fundraising Committee.

This comes at a time when allegations by Norton legislator Themba Mliswa against ZIFA are flying all over the place:

$750 000 was diverted to the finance of Zifa account while the players who are in Egypt are suffering,” “Someone who stole the money is still free, what are the law enforcement agents doing in Zimbabwe?“ Is it the cartels that have now captured the state? We can’t allow a situation where these kinds of people are allowed to walk away. “That person must be arrested for the $750 000 which was supposed to go to the players at Afcon.
