The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement has issued a statement warning members of the public about fraudsters moving around masquerading as Ministry officials. The statement reads:
The Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Rural Resettlement warns members of the public that fraudsters are demanding payment for services such as land allocation, processing of 99-year leases or any other service which unsuspecting citizens will be requiring from the Ministry.
The fraudsters often demand the payment through either eco-cash, one wallet or other platforms. This is outright fraud which should be nipped in the bud.
The public is hereby advised and reminded that allocation of land and issuance of 99-Year Leases is done free of charge. At no time should one be asked to pay anything either as facilitation or administration fee.
Any demands of that nature should, therefore, be disregarded. Such cases should be reported to the police with a view to bringing the culprits to book.
