Armed Robbers Pounce On Lobel's Bread Van, Get Away With 500 Loaves
Robbers on Tuesday pounced on a Lobel’s bread delivery van in Harare and got away with 500 loaves of bread.
The gang of armed robbers waylaid the Lobel’s vehicle while it was making deliveries at Specimen Shopping Centre in Harare’s Glen Norah suburb.
Reports indicate that an unmarked vehicle suddenly pulled up in front of the van, with the gang brandishing pistols and overpowering the bread crew which had attempted to put up a fight.
Lobel’s Bakeries spokesperson, Heritage Mhende, refused to comment over the issue while Zimbabwe Republic Police national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations were in progress.
Bread has of late become a precious commodity as it remains in short supply across the country.
