The Zimbabwe Warriors Suffer A Fresh Setback

The Zimbabwe Warriors midfielder, Tafadzwa Kutinyu has been ruled out of the 2019 Afcon finals after his muscle strain injury appeared to worsen overnight. This comes just three days before the tournament gets underway on Friday night.

Kutinyu is the first Warrior to be ruled out of the Nations Cup finals after having arrived at the tournament. A scan which had been recommended by the Warriors medical team showed that the midfielder would not recover in time to play in the tournament.

Team manager, Wellington Mpandare told the Chronicle that the coaches will decide on who comes to replace him. He said:

It’s sad that we have to announce that Kutinyu will not be able to play at the tournament because of an injury he suffered recently in one of the games we played coming here.

It’s a shame because he is such a nice person and had earned his place in the team with some fine performances every time he has played for the team. The coaches will now have to decide who comes in as a replacement because we are allowed to do that.’

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Khama Billiat is expected to fully recover before the Friday match with Egypt. He was not training with the rest of the squad after complaining of knee pain. Resultantly, the management decided not to play him in the preparatory match against Tanzania.
