A man suspected of suffering from mental illness allegedly pelted motorists and the First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa’s motorcade with stones in Bulawayo on Monday.
According to NewZimbabwe.com, the unidentified man was pinned down by police officers and taken away.
The incident reportedly took place along Bulawayo’s main thoroughfare, Robert Mugabe Way while the First Lady and her team were driving towards the Joshua Nkomo International Airport.
The publication claims that its news crew witnessed the fracas.
Bulawayo provincial police spokesperson Precious Simango could not confirm the incident to NewZimbabwe.com as she said she was on leave.
Mrs Mnangagwa had earlier in the day visited former First Lady Janet Banana. She also visited the home of the late national hero Dumiso Dabengwa in Four Winds where she paid her condolences as well as several war veterans where she donated some goodies.
