Ex-Finance Minister Tells Mthuli Ncube To Raise Army Salaries

Terence Mukupe, former Finance Deputy Minister told professor Mthuli Ncube, finance minister to raise the salaries of military personnel. Mukupe noted that the salaries which have been eroded by the inflation are not commensurate with the services they gave and continue to give to the country.

Mukupe said that if there was really some surplus in revenue, the finance minister must raise the salaries. Posting on Twitter, Mukupe said:

Fiscal surpluses are good if the wages do afford a dignified standard of living. Just had a high ranking service official in tears showing me his gross salary of $430 netting $380.

It is criminal! Professor (Ncube) let us take better care of those that brought about the second republic.

Workers in the country have been threatening to protest against the government over the state of the economy. The economy has been on a downward spiral for about 24 months now. The IMF projects that this trajectory will continue for the duration of the year and would only get better in 2020.
