EU Concerned Over Harassment Of Human Rights Activists
The European Union (EU) expressed concern over the continued harassment of human rights activists by the Zimbabwean government.
Addressing the media following the renewal of dialogue between the EU and Zimbabwe in Harare on Wednesday, EU Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Timo Olkonnen said:
Clearly, there are also incidents like the recent arrests that have been happening on NGO and the human rights activists, which are issues that we discussed in a very frank and open and constructive atmosphere in this meeting.
FeedbackThat is the reason why we are having this discussion to tackle a variety of issues.
The EU delegation included European Union member states with ambassadors accredited to Zimbabwe from Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
