Vice President Constantino Chiwenga is still unwell and will only resume his duties once he is fully fit, a government official has said.
Presidential spokesperson, George Charamba said that the government has never hidden Chiwenga’s health woes. Said Charamba:
We have never made a secret of it. The Vice President has not been feeling well and must be allowed to recover. We want his health to rally back before he can report for work. We really have been upfront about this.

As you may recall, the last time the VP was in India for medical attention, so this time, he was due for review.
As far as we know, he went for a routine check-up which was scheduled. I don’t know what you mean when you say he was unwell when he left. All I know is that it was time for a medical check-up.
Chiwenga reportedly flew to India a few weeks ago for what Charamba called a routine check-up.
Reports indicate that Chiwenga slipped back into the country from India a few days ago.
According to New Zimbabwe, Chiwenga missed vital engagements due to ill health.
He was supposed to represent President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the inauguration of Malawi’s President Peter Mutharika and the engagement had to be cancelled.
He also stood down from a planned trip to China.
The Vice President’s health issues supposedly started soon after he led Operation Restore Legacy in November 2017.
Operation Restore Legacy is the code name for the military coup that brought down the then President Robert Mugabe and replaced him with his former deputy, who is now the incumbent.
