Vice President Mohadi Ostracizes Chief Ndiweni

Zimbabwe’s Vice President Kembo Mohadi has reportedly snubbed controversial Ntabazinuna chief, Chief Nhanhla Ndiweni in a meeting to be held on Thursday (today).

The meeting is between Mohadi and chiefs from Matabeleland North province. Chief Ndiweni’s area of jurisdiction falls under Umguza district in the province.

Speaking to the Daily News on Wednesday, Chief Ndiweni revealed that he had heard about the meeting from his friends in the media.

However, Bulawayo Provincial Affairs minister Judith Ncube told the Daily News that the government has no time for the chief.

She added that Ndiweni is not like Chief Fortune Charumbira, president of the Chiefs’ Council. Said Ncube:

The vice president is meeting all the chiefs from Mat North. As you are aware that he is the one in charge of peace and reconciliation in government, so he wants to hear from them the issues affecting them and the challenges they are facing.

… We don’t have time for Ndiweni. Who is he to be put on our agenda? We don’t have time for him, he is just a mere chief like any other. It’s not like he is Chief (Fortune) Charumbira, so nothing is important about him.

Chief Ndiweni has ruffled furthers in government after he refused to be cowed into submission.

He has been outspoken over issues to do with human rights and cultural rights of the people of Ntabazinduna.
