Vice President Constantino Chiwenga was flown to India for medical attention after his health deteriorated, a ZimLive reports claims.
Chiwenga was airlifted by private jet late at night on May 18. His plane made a stopover in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates for refuelling before landing in New Delhi just before 2 PM local time on May 19.
The report further claims that the private jet is a Dubai-registered Airbus A318-100 Elite, with registration A6-CAS. It flew into Zimbabwe from Rome, Italy on May 17 to pick up the 62-year-old retired general.
Chiwenga has been in and out of the hospital in recent times. This is his second trip to India after he spent two weeks in the country in February where he was being treated for a “minor abdominal ailment”, according to the government.
A Zimlive source said that Chiwenga had been unwell for at least two weeks;
He had been unwell for at least two weeks before his latest airlift. He received treatment locally during that period, but there was enough concern about his deteriorating health that he had to be flown to an Indian facility with better equipment.
Chiwenga was conspicuous by his absence on Friday when President Emmerson Mnangagwa launched his political dialogue with some of the opposition leaders in Harare.
He again failed to attend Cabinet on Tuesday.
In all circumstances the unwell in society are always wished a fast recovery and a return to acquittal of highly demanding duties diligently
