Chipinge Clinics Not Getting Cyclone Idai Medicines

Chipinge Town Council’s two clinics have hitherto not received any medicines since the district was hit by Cyclone Idai on March 15.

While other parts of Manicaland that were affected have been receiving drugs, Chipinge has been overlooked.

This was revealed by the council secretary Susan Dube, in an interview with the Daily News. She said:

Cyclone Idai drugs are dedicated to the district hospital and rural clinics. I think it’s an oversight and we are going to engage the responsible authority.

Right now, we have a critical shortage because we would get some from the government which we then complement with our own resources but there is nothing on both ends at the moment, so we end up referring more patients than we ought to.

Dube said that despite not experiencing any deaths caused by the cyclone, the local authority’s infrastructure was massively damaged.
