Google Stops Support For Huawei Android Devices

Google has ended support for Huawei Android devices Techzim reports. Huawei had become the second biggest smartphone Manufacturer in the whole world. However, on Wednesday 15 May 2019, Donald Trump signed a bill that would ban Huawei business in the US. That move has led to Google suspending business with the smartphone giant.

So what will happen to Huawei Devices?

According to Huawei Central :

Google has suspended business with Huawei that requires the transfer of hardware and software products except those covered by open source licenses…

Huawei will immediately lose access to updates to the Android operating system, and the next version of its smartphones outside of China will also lose access to popular applications and services including the Google Play Store and Gmail app.”

Not to despair for those who use Huawei as Huawei will continue to have access to the Android open source license.

Google is still discussing details of the specific apps under this ban but Huawei will continue to have access to the version of the Android operating system available through the open source license that is freely open to anyone who wishes to use it

Future updates for Huawei are the ones affected the most and Huawei is still to comment about the way forward. This will affect all devices including the much hyped about P30 series. The trade blacklist emanated from the belief by the Americans that the equipment used by Huawei may be used to spy on the American government an allegation Huawei has denied.
