ANC, EFF Taunted For Filling Stadiums 'For Nothing'

A South African opposition political leader has mocked the ruling ANC and opposition EFF for filling stadiums during the campaign period and yet failing to translating the crowds into votes.

Mzwanele Manyi, leader of the African Transformation Movement (ATM) said:

ANC fills stadiums and overflows
EFF filled 2 stadiums in one day.

BUT ANC dropped support countrywide
EFF could not beat even the DA.
Conclusion: Filling up stadiums is NOT a reliable indicator of support.

South Africa held a general election on 8 May which saw the ANC receive less than 60 per cent of the vote, the first time this has happened since the end of apartheid in 1994.

The Julius Malema-led EFF came a distant third and failed to overtake the white-dominated DA to become the country’s official opposition.

However, the EFF grew its support base by roughly 80 per cent, the only party among the “Big Three” to gain support.
