We Want Our $5 Million Back – Minister Chasi Tells Chivayo

Advocate Fortune Chasi, Energy and Power Development Minister has called upon Zesa management to recover by all means the $5 million advanced to Wicknell Chivayo’s Intratek Zimbabwe for the Gwanda Solar Project which never materialised.

Chasi who was recently promoted from being the Deputy Minister of Transport said:

_We want our $5 million back._

Chivayo was recently acquitted of corruption charges related to the solar project. Chasi said that it does not matter what the court said as the money is needed back, by all means, necessary and unnecessary.

The controversial businessman was awarded the multi-million-tender to install the solar project that was premised on reducing power shortages in the Southern African country.

He has not yet delivered despite being paid the money.

Chivayo claims to have done the preliminary work but there are only a few wooden cabins on the site which are surely less than US$10 000 in value.
