Mhofu Makes Surprise Inclusions In Latest Warriors Squad

Warriors coach Sunday Chidzambga made some surprise inclusions in the latest squad called for camp ahead of the COSAFA and AFCON tournaments to be held next month.

Chidzambga announced a 35-man preliminary squad which included the likes of Elvis Chipezeze currently plying his trade at Baroka FC in South Africa.

Chipezeze (29) was overlooked during the qualifiers with the coaches opting to use Edmore Sibanda as back-up to the first choice George Chigova. His last game in the national team colours was three years ago.

Mhofu also brought in Chapungu FC goalkeeper Talbert Shumba.

Another new face in the squad is Tafadzwa Rusike of Zanaco in Zambia. The midfielder returns to the national team fold for the first time in six years.

Tafadzwa Kamusoko, who plays for a club in Tanzania was also brought into the fold having last featured in 2017 against Liberia.

China-based forward, Nyasha Mushekwi whose ban was lifted last year is among the strikers selected.
