Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa, Zanu PF Secretary for Science and Technology has called for opening up of the democratic space to allow for dialogue in the country. He argued that fear impinges on prosperity. Mutsvangwa said:
We must open up the democratic space. Let us debate everything……once we bond our country like that, then we achieve our goal of prosperity. So all topics such as the Gukurahundi and POSA, are now open for discussion, we want a Zimbabwe which discusses everything without fear or favour, without prejudice.
Ambassador Mutsvangwa also called for unity amongst Zimbabweans whom he said must bury party lines.
His remarks come at a time when president Mnangagwa has also nodded to discussions on the Gukurahundi issue that was previously a sacred matter.
Tensions in the country are very high at the moment. They are reported to be emanating from both political and economic crises.
