Teenage Pregnancy Is Higher In Primary Than Secondary Schools

A 2019 report by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has revealed that more adolescent girls fall pregnant in primary school compared to those in secondary school.

The report further states that girls from poorer backgrounds start child-bearing at an early age than those from wealthy families. Part of the report reads:

Adolescent pregnancy is more than twice higher among girls with primary education than among those who attended secondary education.

37.8% of adolescent girls began childbearing in primary schools compared to 17.3% at the secondary school level.
