Mnangagwa To Press Ahead With Talks Without Chamisa

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is set to continue talks with about 18 fringe political parties without the involvement of the largest opposition party in the country, MDC.

MDC president Nelson Chamisa has consistently refused to take part in the so-called State House Dialogue, questioning Mnangagwa’s legitimacy to call for dialogue in the first place.

The parties to the dialogue will meet on on May 17 at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).

A religious leader who is part of the talks, Patrick Mugadza, said that the terms of reference for the talks will be revealed after that launch. Said Mugadza:

We will only be able to say the terms of reference of the talks after the launch on May 17, most likely at the HICC [Harare International Conference Centre].

We will meet soon after the launch and discuss the issues that will be tabled as part of the dialogue.

Today (yesterday), the political actors in the national dialogue met and adopted a code of conduct that will promote conditions that are conducive for dialogue built on political tolerance, mutual respect, consensus, information dissemination and commitment to the dialogue.

While Chamisa is eager for talks, he has rejected Mnangagwa’s presiding over the dialogue as well as being included among political nonentities such as Brian Mteki and Lovemore Madhuku.

  1. ED’s head is big, but there is nothing inside. He is wasting resources doing a process which we all know is going nowhere including himself. This is not the time to be politicking, he must see pictures of Gaddaffi now, with prices of basic commodities rising this fast, ED is busy doing trial and error.

  2. Thus child play which displays no concern about real issues that concern people’s lives
