Harare City Council Water Meets WHO Standards - Council Spokesperson

Harare City Council has received water treatment chemicals after the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) availed foreign currency to the city’s suppliers.

Council spokesperson, Michael Chideme, revealed that the chemicals were delivered on Sunday to Morton Jaffray waterworks. He said:

…We are expecting the first consignment (to arrive) on Sunday (yesterday).

We are also expecting delivery of other (water) treatment chemicals since the RBZ has already paid the foreign currency component to the different suppliers.

Harare residents should rest assured that with the chemicals we are using, our water is safe for human consumption and meets WHO standards. Our compliance level stands at 96 per cent.
