Unclaimed Bodies Choke Mash West Mortuaries

Chegutu District Hospital is reported to have the highest number of unclaimed bodies followed by Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital.

Pauper’s burials are conducted for unclaimed bodies, of which Chegutu Provincial Hospital had 12 such burials recently.

Mash West provincial health services administrator Mr Godwin Tauya told The Herald that:

There are 19 bodies that are waiting for paupers’ burial after those 12 at Chegutu Hospital were buried on April 17.

The unclaimed bodies will be due for burial if they exceed 21 days without anybody coming to claim them or know their identities.
