PICTURE: ZANU PF Activist Shot Dead In Dispute Over Mine
A ZANU PF activist was reportedly shot dead by security agents in Chegutu on Thursday.
The shooting came after a stand-off between about two thousand gold panners working under a cooperative called Danangwe District Youth in Mining (DDYM) and police and members of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO).
Lovemore Feyani (30) was killed when the security forces allegedly opened live fire in a bid to disperse the youths who were charging at the officers, armed with stones.
The youth had for several weeks resisted eviction from Gadzema mine which is owned by a company called Breckridge.
Gold wars are commonplace along the Great Dyke and thousands of unemployed youths search for the metal.
