Mnangagwa Pleads With Diasporans To Return Home

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called upon Zimbabweans based abroad to return home and help in reviving the country’s comatose economy.

Speaking during the Independence Day commemorations at the National Sports Stadium on April 18, Mnangagwa also reiterated his call for the unconditional removal of targeted measures imposed by Western countries. Said Mnangagwa:

I am aware that a notable part of our citizens is currently spread across the Diaspora.

The raft of reforms we have started should enable some of them to return home and assist in building our nation.

On foreign relations, the engagement and re-engagement policy with all countries in the international community, based on mutual respect, is progressing well.

Various strategic engagements have resulted in the signing of numerous bilateral cooperation agreements and concrete investments.

We, however, call for the unconditional removal of the illegal and unjustified economic sanctions imposed on us so that our nation can realise its full developmental potential, free from any hindrances.

Meanwhile, former Finance Minister, Tendai Biti said that things will only get worse. In an interview with Daily News last Wednesday, Biti said:

I predict that by the end of June this year, it (the black market forex rate) will be 1:10 … in other words, people are becoming poorer and poorer.

Bad economic mismanagement is the theft of people’s savings and this has been created by Mthuli …

  1. You want us to come back home and help rebuild. What arr you doing yourself to make the situation conducive for us to killing pple through the army and u want us to bring our investments only for you to degrade them on your benefit. Mnangagwa you are a snake. Beautiful one. You can trick those in zanu not all of us.

  2. People in the diaspora are denied the right to vote yet now expect to return home and help revive the economy which Zanu Pf continues to destroy. Must be a joke! WTF

  3. We truly want to participate but not on orders and with our concerns disregarded . It does not work that way. Zimbabwe has more than enough qualified people of all colours to change that country in months..but the problem is Zanu PF leadership …It’s not even a secret

  4. It’s all way too late for us to come back. Too much water has gone under the bridge and nothing is in place to entice us back. We have good lives where we are.

  5. Mr We are even exploring moves to change citizenship. In fact 70% are no longer Zimbabweans so what you are selling is not marketable under the current conditions. We have leaned to make the right choices. Even if we come you have more problems because of the influence on those that have stayed. Don’t you think you have enough problems and creating others than inviting the diaspora to come. Come for what exactly. Be clear there MR. So it’s not as easy as all that. I guess you suspect that diasporans have some money….No No we don’t work like that. It’s not easy to get that money….now putting it into a hole is a mad propositions=!!!!

  6. You must be joking!!I couldn’t get MY money out of MY bank account to buy necessary medication when I left due to my funds being frozen!!!!
