FULL TEXT: The Prestigious Loerie Awards Partners With Ngoma Awards

The annual Ngoma wards will this year partner with the regional awards The Loerie Awards, The Standard has revealed. The local Ngoma awards give content creators a chance to showcase their creativeness and participants of various categories walk away with different prizes.

Earlier this year it was announced that The Loeries would endorse the Ngoma Awards. Shading more light on this year’s edition of the awards, The Standard said:

The 2019 edition of the Ngoma Awards is extending this reach by partnering with the prestigious Loerie Awards. The Loeries provides the benchmark for the best work that is produced in the region and this bold new partnership will recognise and reward Zimbabwean creativity on a wider scale. This important partnership is an exciting accomplishment for the local communications industry that promises the continued evolution of the local communications industry.

The Loeries was established over 40 years ago to reward creative excellence across Africa and in the Middle East. Winning a Loerie is the highest accolade for creativity and innovation across the region and the Ngomas-Loeries partnership is a significant development that is set to inspire and reward innovation and relevance across all spheres of brand communication in Zimbabwe. The partnership has raised the bar for local creatives, with a greater landscape of work competing for each prize.

Categories for entry have been redesigned to accommodate entries not just from agencies, but from production houses as well. This new format is an important change as it assesses every touchpoint where brands have an impact in today’s advertising and communication’s sector. Traditional categories such as film, print and radio are represented, as well as new areas- digital, design, music videos, live events PR, architecture, shared value and service design. This year’s Ngomas will also encourage up-and-coming talent through the student category, which will award a USD 5 000 prize.As of the 2019 edition, the Ngoma Awards are co-ordinated by the Zimbabwe Association of Accredited Partners in Advertising (ZAAPA) through the CDF. This latest step is yet another development which is breathing new life into the Ngoma Awards, a valuable tool for the growth and development of the local communications sector.All work entered into the Ngoma Awards for 2019 should have flighted between 1 March 2018 and 28 March 2019. The deadline for submission has been extended, and entries will now close on 30 April 2019.
