Lady Goes Into Labour While Awaiting Court Order

A 22 year-old Patience Kutama of Mkoba in Gweru went into labour whilst awaiting her sentence for stealing a cellphone from a merrymaker in a club.

With the assistance of magistrate court personnel, she gave birth to a baby girl. She was later rushed to Kwekwe General Hospital where the court followed up to deliver her sentence.

Kwekwe Court Magistrate, Miss Vimbai Mtukwa sentenced Kutama and her accomplice Lisa Tongogara to a wholly suspended seven months jail term on condition they do not commit a similar offence in the next five years.

Kutama pleaded guilty as charged and further said:

I am really sorry for what I did. I had run out of options as I needed money to fend for myself and the baby.
